SFBA 2010-2011 TRAVEL BASKETBALL PROGRAM

Players that wish to excel in basketball and compete at the highest level within the SFBA Travel Program is selected through an extensive tryout process. FULL COMMITMENT is expected from travel players and parents at all levels.

Tryout Information

Players will be assessed in a closed-door assessment. Please be sure to write down your child’s tryout number. Approximately 1 week after tryouts player’s tryout numbers will be posted on the SFBA website.

Tip off Pot Luck Meeting

We will hold a pot luck meeting to discuss the upcoming travel season on November 14th, 2011 at St. Francis High School in the commons starting at 6:00. This meeting will inform you of any changes or improvements to our program for the upcoming season and answer any questions you might have. Please plan to have at least one parent per player in attendance. This will also be picture night. Please have your son or daughter wear their uniform and shoes.

 Playing Time Policy

The playing time policy may vary depending on player’s understanding of the game, attentiveness during practice, and attendance.

 Program Commitment

The SFBA travel basketball program requires a full commitment from travel players and their parents. Parents should make every effort to ensure players attend every practice and game. The SFBA understands that occasional conflicts may involve religious, educational or family matters. Travel teams play a schedule of weekend tournaments, with approximately half the team’s games on Saturday and half on Sunday.

 Volunteer Commitment

Each player’s family is required to volunteer a minimum of two 4 hour shifts per child throughout the year during our home tournaments (there are 2 for the boys and 2 for the girls). A volunteer schedule will be sent to you approximately 1 week prior to the tournament. Volunteering consists of working the concession stands, working at the door taking entry fees, etc. Our tournaments are our only fundraiser for SFBA. All entry fees, concession sales, etc are how we earn money for the Association so you don’t have to do fundraisers.

 Coach Selection

The SFBA coaching selection committee provides an equal opportunity to anyone who would like to be considered for a coaching position for the traveling basketball program. SFBA strives to select the best qualified candidate (either parent or non-parent) for the program. Each head coach will select one assistant coach. Criminal background checks are required for all coaches.
